It’s been more than a week since Katrina hit South Florida and I can’t help thinking how lucky we all were after seeing the widespread destruction in New Orleans and Mississippi. Nature has its own ways of showing its might and man is almost never a match to its fury. Every once in a while it raises its head to deliver a lethal blow which we all take a long time to recover from. From the tsunamis and the earthquakes to the hurricanes, nature’s law of balancing things is quite simply beyond description. Nature has always shown its might ever since one can remember, but the only worry is its alarming rate of recurrence of late. We can only pray and hope that the people in the Gulf Coast are able to rebuild their lives but the indelible scar of the brutal attack will remain till eternity.
As I had mentioned in my previous post, I did take a few pictures of Katrina’s destruction and I am posting them here as words can never describe things like a picture does.
From huge uplifts in the pavements……….
to ripped apart road signs……..
to cracked walls……..
to downed trees blocking roads……..
to weak trees being uprooted……
to trees sheared in half………
to waterlogged streets and downed power lines.
But life cannot stop and it moves on bringing another beautiful day to cheer people up.
‘Damaging’ I must say. and if this was Miami one can only imaine how it was in New Orleans.
Do u have ur cam on you all the time???? looks like u took a few while driving!!!!
I always try to have my cam with me. But I don’t use it as frequently as I should. Miami was nothing in comparison to the fury with which it hit New Orleans. I don’t even dare to imagine the catastrophy had it hit us here.
Extremely awesome pictures man! Especially the last one (sunrise?) I still can’t get how you make the Sony perform that well in low light! Do you use a tripod?
Sorry if I’ve moved off topic here!
@Santosh: No tripod and it was a sunset near my apartment. I have never had a problem capturing a sunset with my sony. But if it gets any darker, then you get the shake in the picture. 10 minutes later, this picture would have been grainy. Also try customizing the settings. I never use the default ones.
